– Let’s start from the beginning! How did you start your AR journey? What inspired you to become a creator and what keeps you motivated to continue creating for this industry?
– I’ve always loved technology, and I began this journey even without understanding that it was augmented reality back in 2015 when I started creating geofilters for Snapchat. You know those filters that show the name of the city you’re in? I created some for cities in my region, which are still available today. But it was only in 2019, one evening at home, that I wondered how to create filters on Instagram. I followed some Brazilian creators and wanted to understand, to explore my creativity. That’s when I discovered Spark AR Studio and joined the Instagram beta version. Even before it was released for creating on Instagram, I started by creating filters for Facebook. This journey began in April 2019. I believe having space to showcase my creativity, along with feeling part of a community of people who also enjoy this type of technology, made my interest in creation grow even stronger. Every day, I felt more inspired, because at the beginning, all the tutorials we had were in Russian, so we ended up watching those tutorials and unraveling to understand what each element within the program did

– What is AR for you?
– Immeasurable possibilities

How do you see the future of AR evolving? What kind of opportunities do you think it will bring to creators and brands?
– I imagine that augmented reality will increasingly help us in our daily lives, especially in matters of health, education, etc. And opportunities for creators are likely to increase, as the demand will be very high, especially when individuals/brands truly comprehend what augmented reality is and what its possibilities are.

Who or what inspires you in your work, and can you describe your working process? Do you follow a plan or work spontaneously? Do you have a specific style that sets you apart from other creators?
– Amazingly, my friends inspire me to create because they always come up with creative ideas for me. My creation process begins when at some point in my day I see something and I have a filter idea, then I run to my notebook and write everything I thought so I don’t forget. I always plan the creation, if it doesn’t end I lose a lot of time. But there have been several times that I planned and when I finished I discarded the whole project because I didn’t like it. As I have an idea of possibilities and especially of always doing something out of the “common” makes me not have a defined style

Can you share an example of a project where you pushed the boundaries of what is possible with AR technology and what kind of impact did it have?
– I don’t have permission, but it had a great impact on health education.

– Collaboration is a crucial aspect of creating successful AR projects. Can you share an example of a project where you had to balance a client’s needs with your creative vision? How did you navigate that challenge?
– That Girl filter was an example. Understanding the customer’s need and being able to discuss whether it would work or not is very rewarding.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technology in the AR industry, and how do you incorporate this knowledge into your work?
– I stay connected to social networks and the creator community and when I see something super cool, I send a message to the creator or look for a tutorial on youtube.

Can you share any tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way that have helped you to create successful AR projects?
– I always say that creating filters is a trial-and-error process. If you make a mistake, you can see what’s wrong and work on it until you achieve the desired result. You don’t necessarily need to be a design/programmer professional to start creating filters—just begin and clarify your doubts with fellow creators.

What do you enjoy most about being an AR creator, and how do you balance the technical aspects of AR creation with the creative side? What advice would you give to aspiring AR creators who are just starting out?
– The manner in which I am able to articulate certain unconventional ideas from my mind still greatly captivates me, particularly when the realm of augmented reality is discussed. My advice to novices is to engage in events and both physical and online gatherings. I am confident that doing so will yield significant success.
