Let’s start from the beginning! How did you start your AR journey? What inspired you to become a creator and what keeps you motivated to continue creating for this industry?
I actually discovered AR through YouTube. It was back when I was in high school, and I was given an assignment to create a physics model of an animal cell. Naturally, I wanted to impress my classmates, so I hit up YouTube and started watching all kinds of videos, while also reading up on Meta spark page. That’s when I stumbled upon AR, and it couldn’t have come at a better time in my life.
What is AR for you?
To me, AR is one of the most incredible and enjoyable ways to bring your imagination to life. It allows you to take your ideas, whether they exist only in your mind or on paper, and turn them into something tangible that is engaging, captivating, and can communicate a message that resonates with people.
How do you see the future of AR evolving? What kind of opportunities do you think it will bring to creators and brands?
I believe the future of augmented reality is full of promise. As AR technology continues to advance and become more accessible, we can expect to see even more exciting and immersive applications emerge in fields such as education, healthcare, tourism, wearables, and alternate realities. For creators and brands, this represents a wealth of opportunities to explore and innovate
Who or what inspires you in your work, and can you describe your working process? Do you follow a plan or work spontaneously?Do you have a specific style that sets you apart from other creators?
In my work, I draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, including film, music, art and everyday life experiences. I’m constantly looking for new and innovative ways to create and enhance AR experiences, and I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration. As for my work process, I usually start with a concept or an idea and then let the project flow. I like to have a general idea of what I want to achieve before I jump into a project, but I also like to be spontaneous and open to new approaches if they arise. In general, my way of working is flexible and adaptable, which allows me to create the best possible AR experiences for my audience.
Can you share an example of a project where you pushed the boundaries of what is possible with AR technology and what kind of impact did it have?
A project that I particularly enjoyed working on was with the incredible Florencia Raffa. It was one of the first collaborations I have done, and I truly enjoyed it. I think we both share a passion for character design, the supernatural, and animated elements. This project started as a very wild idea, but with hard work and creativity, we were able to achieve an innovative end product.
Can you list the brands you have worked with?
Metro, Ford Perú, Barba Roja audio, Need peru.
Collaboration is a crucial aspect of creating successful AR projects. Can you share an example of a project where you had to balance a client’s needs with your creative vision? How did you navigate that challenge?
There are many types of clients, and many of them are looking for effects that don’t necessarily convey an interactive visual identity. This is where our role comes in – Always I take a different path and strive to implement the client’s primary idea with new trends or ways for the user to participate and integrate into the scene.
How do you stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technology in the AR industry, and how do you incorporate this knowledge into your work?
My daily routine involves constantly holding a mobile device, so I always strive to stay updated on the latest developments in various media. With the advent of reels, there are now numerous creators who offer top-notch information about all things related to the digital realm.
Can you share any tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way that have helped you to create successful AR projects?
When it comes to character design, my recommendation is to create textures layer by layer, using darker and lighter tones to achieve a more natural appearance and create a convincing visual illusion. Another crucial factor in character creation and makeup is the directional light within the program. To achieve success in your project, it’s important to take your time, regardless of how many days you spend on it or how many tutorials and feedback sessions you go through.
What do you enjoy most about being an AR creator, and how do you balance the technical aspects of AR creation with the creative side? What advice would you give to aspiring AR creators who are just starting out?
What I love most about being an AR creator is the opportunity to bring my creative vision to life in a new and exciting way. I love the challenge of bringing something we only see on screens or other people into the real world. For those aspiring to become augmented reality creators, my advice would be to immerse yourself in the AR community and absorb all the knowledge available. Attending conferences, events, and connecting with other creators can be an excellent way to learn and grow. It’s essential to be patient and persistent in the pursuit of success. Imagine, create, and enjoy the process, as there’s nothing more rewarding than being passionate about the work and fascinated by the end result.
